  • The bank gave out the pay off amount, payment amount, loan balance, past due status, and last payment made and amount. She thought that she was protected by the privacy policy? And she stated that this is the 7th time this has happened because the person they gave it to is a second on her checking account, but she is sole on the loan? Any advice?

Without more information about the nature of their accounts and possibly, relationship, impossible to say if this was even illegal. But as to a lawsuit, you can only sue to recover financial or other damages - so if she did not suffer any financial or other loss or damage, she has nothing to sue for. If the bank activity was illegal - that is, criminal - she could file a police report or complaint with the Banking Commission.

  • My ex is self employed. He owes a large amount of child support. I have found out that he making a large amount of money now. I would like the monthly amount modified. But he refuses to show proof of income. A lawyer told me you can supeona loan applications to see what he claims as wages on those applications and use that as proof on income. Anyone know if this is true and how I could do this without paying a lawyer? I know of a few companies he has gotton loans from within the last year.

The attorney you spoke with is correct, when you apply for any loan you need to provide income and proof thereof as part of the approval process. Unfortunately, you will need to contact an attorney to have him/her subpoena the applications. If you know the companies it will make it cheaper (considering the attorney's paralegals won't have to research that part) but unfortunately there is no way around contacting an attorney for the subpoena. Be mindful though, if it is between defaulting on a loan and paying back child support he is bound to certain legal protections. So if you find out he owes a few hundred thousand dollars in loans, give it a little time.....all things your attorney will advise you on.

  • My fiance is currently working towards his bachelor's degree in Elementary education. I have heard from many people that lots of schools (particularly hard-to-staff school or classes with students with behavioral problems) will pay part or all of a teacher's loans in return for a committed employment. I haven't been able to find any information regarding this online, though. Does anyone know any websites or specific details about locating one of these jobs? Any information that you might have would be really helpful! Thanks!

I am about to have portions of loans forgiven because I've been teaching in a rural (title 1) school for 5 years. I get $5000 forgiven. People who do science, math, or special education can get $17,500 forgiven (I wish I'd have known that before!). the application and guidelines are here: http://www.dlssonline.com/tools/show-pdf.asp?PDF=othf_tlfa_auto.pdf As far as finding a school that pays for college, You'll need to investigate each school district individually. Generally, the ones I've heard about that do that are city schools.

  • I get money added to my loan every semester, but there's no way to account for this in MS Money. I figured the best way to enter the account is to make it a loan, but I'm not given much flexibility. Thanks!!!

MS Money is limited in recording loans and lines of credits. I would do as you suggest and add it as a loan. Make an adjustment to the balance when they give you more money.

  • I would like to know when it is appropriate to request loan mortification.

A loan modification is something you would ask from your own bank if you are having trouble making the monthly payments due to increased interest rates, lower income, etc. If you already have a low interest rate, there would be no reason to do this. If your interest is not low, or you think you will continue to have problems making payments in the future, you can ask them for a loan modification, or if you've missed more than one payment, a forbearance agreement where they put the missed payments at the end of the loan.

  • I am working on consolidating my student loans, and I would appreciate the central website that will list ALL of them for me. Thank you in advance!
    In Topic: loan information
    • Response:
Go to http://www.nslds.ed.gov for a complete listing of your federal student loans (private loans are not included). This will give you a complete picture of your student loans including the current holder and amount outstanding (you'll need this information for your consolidation loan application). You do need your federal PIN to access this site. If you don't have one you can get it at http://www.pin.ed.gov/. When consolidating you should first work with one of the lenders that have your loans. See what kind of repayment incentives they offer. It's usually easier to work with someone that already has your information rather than starting from scratch with a brand new lender.
